Workshop Description:

Each workshop organises itself around a different theme (waking, nature, mythology, dream) however, the basic structure remains consistent. We begin with our meditation led by Blue Pieta, who has worked with Bhanu Kapil to create light meditation in which we feel light enter the body and the support of our ancestors. This is followed by a ‘womb circle’ which creates a space for members of the group to share memory or experience that emerges out of the imaginary or real womb space. Then we stretch and this is followed by our movement practice. Beginning with ancestral music to the participants, or using sounds of early earth (wind, fire, water) we create a sonic environment in which ask the participants to improvise with specific parts of the anatomy, imaginary environments and characters. These improvisations develop further into more concrete compositions or scores, drawing on principles from Butoh, Grotowski, Feldenskrist, Ghost Dancing, Release technique and Flamenco.

Our workshops range from being highly physical to more gentle approaches suitable for beginners.
